Villa Bordeaux

2016
Santorini

Embedded dramatically into the steep rock of the Caldera, Villa Bordeaux occupies a commanding position in the heart of Fira in Santorini. The historic building was renovated drawing inspiration from Frangomachalas, the small Venetian-built quarter of Fira, where refined stone walls and crafted metal doors define a timeless architectural character. BOX INTERIORS contributed to the transformation of the luxurious hotel by leading the interior design and providing the lighting, furniture and deco objects that complete the spatial experience. Guided by the landscape, BOX shaped interiors through different tones of earthy colors and nature-based design elements that echo the volcanic landscape and sun-washed architecture. Furniture and décor were selected to feel grounded and timeless, being approached as quiet extensions of the architecture rather than standalone statements. Warm woods, textured fabrics, and detailed metal patterns reference both local craftsmanship and the raw beauty of the island. Every object was chosen to support a sense of quiet transformation allowing the interior to feel less designed and more revealed. From the reception’s glow to the intimate lighting in private suites, everything was composed to invite guests into a sensory dialogue with place, honoring the building’s heritage and at the same time unfolding a contemporary, nature-rooted hospitality experience.
